Kuna Joint School District 3 is Hiring a Middle School Guidance Counselor (24/25 school year) Near Idaho, ID

Job Status: All Applicants
Job Title: Guidance Counselor 2024.2025 school year
Location: Fremont Middle School
Reports To:  Principal
Calendar: 185 Days plus 20 extra days
Hours: Full Time
Salary: Placed on Certified Salary Schedule

Job Summary:

In order to assist students in making sound educational, occupational, and life plans, the guidance counselor shall carry out the following major duties and responsibilities. This position will be housed at Kuna Middle School.
Qualifications:
  • Must possess a current Idaho Education Credential with appropriate endorsement
  • Must have Masters Degree in School Counseling or similar
  • Positive public relations skills
  • Demonstrated ability to accomplish the major duties listed below.

 
Major Duties And Responsibilities:

  1. Perform such school-related duties as assigned by the supervisor(s).
  2. Assist in the scheduling of students and orient them to school procedures and the school's varied opportunities for learning.
  3. Maintain student records and protect confidentiality.
  4. Assist in removing barriers to academic success.
  5. Assist in the identification and development of special abilities of students.
  6. Provide assistance to Career Counselor with conveying career awareness information to students and classes.
  7. Support Career Counselor in helping students evaluate career interests and choices.
  8. Work with students on an individual basis in the solutions of personal problems related to such matters as home and family relations, health, and emotional adjustment.
  9. Confer with parents whenever necessary.
  10. Confer with administrators and faculty on matters of student discipline.
  11. Assist with standardized tests administered to students in accordance with the district's testing program.
  12. Work with students, parents, staff and others in a positive, encouraging manner.
  13. Know and follow district policy and chain of command.
  14. Act ethically and confidentially in all aspects of employment.
  15. Any other duties that may be assigned.

  • Sufficient manual dexterity which permits the employee to operate a personal computer and other office equipment.
  • May be required to block or redirect students.
  • Must be able to effectively supervise and support staff when consequences are implemented including supervising physical restraint and seclusion if necessary for safety.
  • Sit for extended periods of time.
  • Walk and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
